GEMS Westminster School, Sharjah adheres to the English National Curriculum, which is a standardised curriculum followed by thousands of British schools around the world. Teaching and learning is enquiry-based, with an emphasis on problem solving, and aims to build up students' abilities as learners. As in all GEMS Education schools, work takes place both individually and in groups in order to meet the needs of each child. This ensures that they are able to be independent, self-confident, inquiring and life-long learners
Primary Section; Key Stage 1-2 (Grades KG2 -G5)
We are proud to offer a vibrant and rich learning process in the Primary Section that is a child-centred, experiential, and applications-orientated. Our relaxed and caring learning environment, alongside a strong, well-rounded curriculum, provides students with a perfect blend of academic, social, and emotional growth.
Secondary Section; Key Stage 3+4 (Grades 6 -10)
The K3 programme features an academically productive environment in which all students are challenged to pursue their passions and reach their full potential. The learning process focuses on individualised student needs and extending academic expectations, with each child gaining considerably in independence and confidence. This is a time marked by great change in a child’s life. Students in G11 take UK IGCSE examinations.
Key Stage 5 (Grades 11-12)
Challenging students to find their identity as scholars, artists, leaders, athletes and scientists, K5 centres around the ‘AS’ Level programme of the UK examination board.
Thought-provoking work across all of the major disciplines, in tandem with plentiful extra-curricular opportunities, provides students with a level of flexibility that allows them to create a school experience that best addresses their individual requirements. This includes ‘Special’ Arabic (for Arabs), Regular Arabic for non-Arabs, and Islamic Studies (forMuslim students) for Arabs and non-Arabs. A Social Studies curriculum is also provided by MOE for Arab andnon-Arab speakers.
